If your cast/crew or small group is looking for something fun to do in your “off” time during Annual Alumni Week, we have a few ideas!

Do you fancy an afternoon tea? Maybe a whiskey tasting? Or perhaps a brewery is more your style? We are also offering an exclusive opportunity for a group to have a private lunch and tour Birr Castle with the 7th Earl of Rosse and family, who own and live in the castle.

Some notes before you book your experience:

• The afternoon tea, whiskey tasting, and brewery are in Limerick City, and you will need to take a bus or taxi to the venue. There is a local bus that runs from the university into town, and the venues are within a 10- to 15-minute walk from the drop-off location.
• Transportation to and from Birr Castle is included in the Private Lunch/Tour.
• If you have children in Legacy programmes, be sure to check that schedule before you book. Monday is a Family Day.
• Keep in mind the photography and rehearsal schedule:
  Photos & rehearsals for ’65-’70, ’70s, and ’80s casts: Thursday, July 23.
  Photos and rehearsals for ’90s and 2000+ casts: Friday, July 24.
• If your group does not have the minimum number, the team can help you find others to combine to meet the minimum.
• Have back-up days and times already approved by your group in case your first choice is not available. Decide and book early to get your desired day!

Afternoon Tea

In true Irish fashion, your Afternoon Tea will include three delicious types of mini sandwiches, sausage rolls, mini fruit and plain scones, and three delightful mini desserts, accompanied by tea or coffee. Afternoon Tea in Ireland is a delightful way to spend an afternoon. It’s a celebration of good food, good company, and the simple pleasure of enjoying a leisurely break with a touch of Irish charm.

Whiskey Tasting Experience

Experience the ultimate Irish whiskey journey with our Munster Mash-Up Tasting in Peggy’s Whiskey Parlour. Guided by a WSET accredited expert, you’ll savour a curated selection of four exquisite Irish whiskeys, each with deep ties to the Munster region. Within the intimate and exclusive setting of our private boutique whiskey bar you’ll not only compare unique production styles but also delve into the rich histories and captivating stories of the people behind each pour. Perfect for those seeking an authentic and immersive Irish experience, these tasting promises to be both educational and unforgettable. Raise a glass to the spirit of Munster!

Treaty City Brewery Experience

Enjoy a guided visit of the Treaty City Brewery to learn about the ancient craft of beer brewing and their innovative approaches. You will learn about the ingredients they use, packaging, and equipment—and how all of these influence the flavour of the finished product. End the visit with a tasting of three fresh draft beers crafted on-site, including one tasting direct from the tank!

Exclusive Group Activity: Private Tour and Lunch at Birr Castle with the Castle Owners

A formal lunch and personal tour of Birr Castle and the surrounding gardens with the owners, whose ancestors arrived at Birr in 1620 and acquired the ruined fortress of Birr. Headed by the 7th Earl and Countess of Rosse, the family now reside in the castle.

Dates Available: Wednesday, July 22; Thursday, July 23; and Friday, July 24
Number of Guests: Minimum: 12; Maximum: 40. One group per day. Transportation included.
