The second year of Annual Alumni Week on the beautiful Emerald Isle saw more than 400 attendees from 21 countries gather in Limerick.
Everyone enjoyed a host of activities and cultural experiences, including day trips to the Cliffs of Moher, Inis Oírr, the Burren Region, Killarney and Galway, among others! Some learned about “The Troubles” on a study group in Belfast or saw a family-run woollen mill; others met a lead dancer from Lord of the Dance or witnessed a sheep dog demonstration. And of course there were some well-loved reunion schedule favorites, such as performances onstage!
Many thanks to the hard-working team of volunteers of over 60 alumni spanning all eras and 13 countries who made this event happen.
Events Chair Mary McCullough Receives Award
In November 2025, our own Mary McCullough, Events Chair on the UWPIAA Board of Governors, was honored at the Conference Ambassador Recognition Awards held at The Royal Dublin Society. She was one of 109 leading academics and industry experts, known as conference ambassadors, who were celebrated for bringing international conferences to Ireland between 2023 and 2024. Collectively, they generated an estimated €117 million for the Irish economy.
2025 Survey Results
A survey was conducted after the event so that we could determine what we needed to continue offering in the same way, and what we might be better off changing or tweaking for future events.
Respondents expressed appreciation for the hard work of all the volunteers, the love and friendship that was present all week, the opportunities to travel via bus as a group again, to enjoy time with friends, and to be able to make new ones! The UWP spirit was alive and well all week long! For some, the campus apartment situation was a huge plus, as well as being able to share a mini-UWP experience with their younger relatives ages 7 to 20 through the Legacy Xperience programme.
Below we have compiled the data and information.
