Spend 7 memorable days and nights in Albania and Kosovo volunteering to improve the lives of children, elders and families in need with long-term, sustainable projects. This trip will be facilitated in partnership with New Day Impact (NDI) and Paul de Lang, ’86-’93, and Karen Cvitkovich, ’84B, Global Impact Committee Chair and cross-cultural consultant.
NDI has been running these volunteer trips to Kosovo and Albania for over eight years and helped to facilitate the UWP cast in 2018 on their tour of Kosovo. Cost is $1,900 and includes 7 hotel nights (double occupancy), most meals, bus travel within Kosovo and Albania, and much more. The cost does not include your travel to/from Tirana.
Itinerary (subject to change) includes:
Friday, 25 October – Travel day – Flight to Tirana on your own. Meet in Tirana. Dinner and hotel in Tirana.
Saturday, 26 October–Travel to Lushnje / Bitaj / Hyzgjokaj that same day and have an activity in the afternoon. Stay in a hotel near Lushnje.
Sunday, 27 October – Activities in Lushnje / Bitaj / Hyzgjokaj; Dinner with local volunteers and partners. Work on a house in Hyzgjokaj and do children’s activities.
Monday, 28 October– Travel to Korca and have an activity that same day in and around Korca.
Tuesday, 29 October– Work on a house with a group / do activities with another group in Korca.
Wednesday, 30 October– Travel to Gjakova, Kosovo; Presentation on Kosovo at the end of the day from local partner in the innovation Centre in Gjakova.
Thursday, 31 October– Activity day in Gjakova and surrounding + meet with Dutch entrepreneurs who will also be volunteering from NDI; have an activity together and dinner that night together with the local Mayor.
Friday, 1 November– Travel day / Back to Tirana. Flight out of Tirana, on your own, after 4pm.
