Dr. Belk is the founder of the international organization that, with youth and music, builds bridges of understanding across nations and individuals.  Those who  participate as musicians, students, host families, and the millions who experience Up With People as a show and in their communities, are inspired by his vision which impacts the world to this day.

Named in his honor this award will be given to those who have made an exceptional contribution to humankind by exemplifying his spirit and ideals.
