Marina Alison Day, 24, passed away after a two-year battle with an aggressive leukemia on March 12, 2013. Marina was a vocal star for Cast A 2008, often under the spotlight for the quiet and sentimental moments of the show. She was an accomplished artist and musician well before her arrival to UWP.  Born in Atlanta and raised in Pine Lake, Marina danced before she walked. With musical influences on both sides of her family, she also sang and learned to play several instruments, including the violin and guitar. Marina was home-schooled and experienced the entire tour through eyes of wonder and excitement. She was attending Bard College in New York when she was diagnosed, with the intention to pursue a career in the arts. Marina was (and will forever be) well loved by her cast, family and friends. Many of her Up with People friends referred to Marina as Dock, lovingly referencing the duality in her name and in her spirit. We will never forget that purple guitar, childlike wonder, and love for any and everything.
