The UWPIAA is excited to welcome Cherrelyn Napue (‘83C) back to Up with People as the new Director of Alumni Engagement. This is her third time working for the organization. Following her cast year, she traveled on the road staff for two years as an Admissions Coordinator. When Up with People moved to her hometown of Denver, she worked in the international office from 1993-1996 as the Director of Corporate and Foundation Giving and in marketing as the Mid-Atlantic Sales Director.
In between these eras, she completed three degrees including a Master’s of Nonprofit Management from Regis University in Colorado. Her previous experience includes being the Executive Director for Black United Fund of Colorado, and working for more than twelve years in higher education at Metropolitan State University of Denver as the Alumni Director and then as the Associate Vice President of Alumni and Development. She maintains her ties as an affiliate faculty member in their nonprofit management program. Most recently, Cherrelyn has been working in several entrepreneurial ventures including Co-Owner/CEO of a tutoring franchise in Denver and as a consultant for various nonprofit organizations and non-governmental organizations.
Cherrelyn is married to Stanley and is the mother of Ian (eighth grade). She still enjoys singing, traveling, serving her local community, and experimenting in the kitchen and garden. Her most recent international trip took her to Rwanda and Uganda.
“I am so excited to bring the skills I have gained over the years back to a mission and organization still so needed in the world,” Cherrelyn said. “There are new and exciting programs happening at Up with People which will allow alumni and their families to continue to live and work daily as global citizens. Let’s make a difference together.”
