With an alumni base of over 22,000 located in every corner of the globe, Up with People alumni are everywhere, doing everything—from music industry moguls launching the next superstars to international affairs experts at the highest levels of their governments.

The rich experience of the UWP alumni body deserves to be told and shared with one another; now, we have the opportunity to do so.

alumTALKS, launching in February 2021, borrows conceptually from the popular “Ted Talk,” where a subject matter expert shares their lived experience and some lessons that can be learned from it.

Each alumTALK will be one hour in duration and feature one alumnus/a. Their 15-to-20-minute message can either be delivered live or be prerecorded and submitted in advance. The alumni-only audience will then have the opportunity to submit questions and engage with the expert alumnus/a during the hourlong session.

WHO: One alumnus/a expert and one moderator; all alumni are invited to attend, enjoy, and engage in the conversation following the talk.

WHAT: alumTALKS—the opportunity for one alumnus/a to share their experience on a topic in a safe space for other alumni, followed by an interactive conversation for all attendees.

WHERE: All online: alumTALKS will take place on Zoom

WHY: The UWP alumni body is so full of diversified life experiences and stories. We can learn from each other by sharing them!

HOW: The UWPIAA is sponsoring these programs through the new Programming Committee (ProComm). Both the UWPIAA and ProComm are run by volunteers and are always looking for more people to be involved.
